In conversation with MS NOW, Jennifer Haley, a health policy expert at the Urban Institute, broke down coming changes to Medicaid work requirements: “[Enrollees] must be working at least 80 hours a month, attending school or participating in other specified activities like volunteering in order to receive Medicaid coverage, unless they qualify for an exemption.” According to research by Haley and colleagues, these changes could cause “a decline in Medicaid expansion enrollment of about five to 10 million people in 2028.”
