A new analysis of essential health benefit (EHB) requirements provided under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) shows that the EHBs frequently targeted for cuts in ongoing repeal and replace efforts account for small percentages of overall monthly premiums, on average. Maternity and newborn care account for 6 percent of premium dollars; habilitative and rehabilitative care—or daily living and functioning services—account for 2 percent; and pediatric dental and vision care, 1 percent.
